From July 13th to 16th, 2023, the AsRES-GCREC Joint International Real Estate Conference was held in the Hong Kong. The conference was organized by the Centre for Hospitality and and Real Estate Research (CHRER), an affiliate of School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). The Deputy Secretary General of GCREC, Professor Yang Xiaodong from School of Civil Engineering, HIT, and Dr. Zhang Jiayu from School of Civil Engineering attended this conference.
The theme of this conference is Diversity & Inclusion · Future of Cities · PropTech & Innovation Sustainability, covering various topics such as housing market development, real estate finance, ESG and sustainability impact on the real estate market, commercial real estate development, real estate investment and valuation, urban policies and society. This conference adheres to the consistent purpose of the society, aiming to become a bridge for communication and interaction between academia, industry, and government, and contributes to promoting the exchange of industry and academia, as well as making the development of future cities and livable cities.
At the opening ceremony of AsRES-GCREC Joint International Real Estate Conference, Professor Alan K.L. Chan from the Chinese University of Hong Kong delivered a speech. He stated that this conference is the first offline conference since 2018, and the organization of the conference was not easy. He hoped that through the exchange and sharing the views, everyone can enhance friendships and create a wonderful academic feast. More than 400 directors and members from China (including Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan), the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Singapore and other countries and regions participated in this conference. The conference set up 6 sub-forums for a total of 36 academic discussions, and after strict screening, over 200 submitted papers were accepted. The teachers and students from School of Civil Engineering, HIT actively participated in the conference, and a total of 4 papers were selected for the special seminar sub-forum and reported. Professor Yang Xiaodong was invited to be the chair of the AsRES-Housing Development sub-forum, while Dr. Zhang Jiayu was invited to chair the GCREC-Real Estate Comprehensive Issue 1 sub-forum. In addition, Professor Yang Xiaodong was invited to participate in the academic seminar on Global Women in Real Estate (GWIRE) at AsRES.
Out of over 200 papers presented at this conference, a total of 15 papers won the GCREC Best Paper Awards. The article Research on the Spatial Distribution Characteristics of Urban Occupation and Residence Based on POI Data - Taking Beijing as an Example completed by Professor Yang Xiaodong and Doctor candidate Xia Manman from the School of Civil Engineering, HIT won the third prize of the GCREC Best Paper Award.
The latest research results shared by the teachers from HIT have attracted high attention from many peers. At the same time, teachers from HIT actively promoted the policies and talent introduction of HIT at the meeting, attracting multiple outstanding doctoral students from internationally renowned universities for consultation.
